5. How did you end up in the Energy Industry?

I talked to a company who were recruiting when I was at university. The description of what they did (field geologist) and the thought of being able to work overseas got me really excited. I spent the next seven years primarily working in various parts of West Africa. It was an incredibly enjoyable and fulfilling start to my oilfield career, full of challenges and needing to be resourceful in remote areas.

6. Why do you like working with Start-Ups?

There is a freedom when working with startups - they are less constrained than large companies and there is the ability to be more entrepreneurial and cut through “red tape” - without cutting corners.

7. What are three of your interests outside of work?

  • Scale modelling - mainly aircraft and armor

  • DIY and home remodeling

  • Golf

8.  What are your top 3 accomplishments (personal or professional)?  Don’t be shy!  Give ‘em to us.

  • Moving my customer (a supermajor) from position 5 to position 3 in our company (in terms of revenue) during the last bad downturn in the industry (during a time of 40% reduction in customer spend across the board). It’s the achievement of which I’m most proud.

  • Starting my own general contractor/handyman/remodeling company during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Cycling the MS150 eight times to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis.

9.  If I were a superhero, my superpower would be               .

Being able to clone myself to truly be able to multitask!

“It’s a ten cent phone call” - from Chris Bechtel at Weatherford. A great way to break a stalemate or not even allow one to start. Get away from email and just call someone. It’s served me well many times.
